The work to demolish the Belgrave flyover in Leicester nears completion.
The 1970′s concrete monster, used to be the link between Leicester city centre and the famous Golden Mile. Work to demolish the structure began in February 2014 and this weekend reaches the end of phase 1 – a few days ahead of schedule.
The removal of the concrete flyover is just a small part of the refurbishment and regeneration of the wider area which is aimed to improve the area to the North of the city. The city council now hope to make further road improvements including additional parking spaces on the ‘Golden Mile’ and better access to this area from the city.
We will watch with interest at how the next stages of the re-development project begin to take shape.
