We transformed an old second floor building shell, in The Highcross Leicester, and fitting it out to create a brand new office space for Building Services Design (BSD).
The floor was very uneven so we boarded out the entire area. We formed a boardroom and server room in timber studwork; we fitted a large glazed screen and glass doors. After this, new flooring was laid. New sanitary ware was fitted in the toilets and new pipework plumbed in for a new kitchen. Our talented joiners crafted bespoke up-stands for desks in our workshop. We plastered and decorated using chalk paint to achieve an industrial style.
Working in the centre of Leicester city and on the second floor presented some challenges; challenges that we overcame. For example, we could not use skips due to the town centre location. Therefore, we bagged up waste and disposed of it each day. In addition, we ensured that deliveries of materials were well-planned so we could easily retrieve materials from lorries in a timely manner so to cause the least traffic disruption on the busy city centre roads.
